Course Description
How can I strengthen my students' understanding of fractions?
As elementary and middle school students develop an understanding of the number system, they must have a strong concept of fractions as numbers.
This 8-module course shares strategies for opportunities for students to experience fractions through multiple modalities.
Multiple representations, the use of manipulatives, literacy connections, writing opportunities, and review to build proficiency will be covered.
Many materials will be shared that are classroom ready but can be easily adapted and differentiated to meet individual student needs.
This course will help you help your students make sense of fractions.
Modules include:
- Teaching Fractions Using Multiple Modalities
- Fractions: The Basics
- Fraction Manipulatives
- Fractions: Literacy Connections
- Pattern Block Fractions: Addition & Subtraction
- Pattern Block Fractions: Multiplication & Division
- Fractions: Opportunities for Writing
